Tamay & Me yam dye jacket
Tamay & Me yam dye jacket
This jacket by Tamay & Me is the perfect garment for daily wear throughout the seasons. It works well as a light jacket in the warmer months or layered over a knit and under a coat at colder times of year. This is a traditional jacket from the mountains of northern Vietnam and across the border in China. It features three pockets and knotted buttons.
The cloth is naturally dyed with yam to produce a warm rust colour. The handwoven fabric along with the natural dye creates a piece with a rustic quality, with variations in tones throughout, including some heavier and lighter patches or marks. Each piece is rather unique.
Made with Tamay’s signature handspun, handwoven cotton from north Vietnam, which ages beautifully with time and wear.
The jackets are a square cut, with straight shoulders, which is typical of Vietnam; it has a relaxed fit and dropped sleeve, quite unlike more Western tailored sleeves and shoulder lines. The back of the garment is made up of two panels with a stand-up collar. It can be worn over-sized for an extra relaxed fit or smaller for a more structured look, either on its own or as a layer.
Please use the following garment measurements to compare with similar items of clothing in your wardrobe that fit you well. Owing to the handmade nature of these garments, all measurements are approximate and they vary from garment to garment:
S - pit to pit 60cm, length at back (not including collar) 59cm
M - pit to pit 64cm, length at back (not including collar) 64cm
L - pit to pit 65cm, length at back (not including collar) 68cm
Tamay & Me recommend hand washing this garment in cool water, line drying and hot ironing.
