The joy of white cotton & linen

White cotton and linen are timeless and fresh for both clothing and interiors. They have an effortless elegance which speaks of hot summer days, gentle breezes through open windows and relaxed lunches in the garden.

As we approach the summer months, we have introduced a few special pieces to the handworked website, which we feel evoke that feeling of high summer.

The latest addition to the Handworked Clothing collection, is a white linen version of our gathered shirt. Made from a light to medium weight, softened pure linen, it has been given a lovely finishing detail of a natural cotton tape trim which features a fine blue line. The gathered style creates a very relaxed and easy shape, perfect for keeping you cool in hot weather. Its loose fit allows it to be worn tucked in or untucked with a belt, to create different looks. As with all Handworked Clothing garments, this has been made in Penzance, especially for the handworked shop.

This cotton throw by miiThaaii would look beautiful used as a curtain panel in front of a window, where the light could shine through the cutwork details. It has been made from repurposed cloth, with much care and attention going in to the cutwork details. It’s a truly stunning piece, from a very interesting company.

miiThaaii, which is part of Fog Linen Work, specialise in clothing and accessories based on those worn or used daily, by people in Southern India. Much of their work utilises silk, 100% cotton, checked Lungi (a type of sarong mostly worn by men) and vintage kantha fabrics. We will be adding more items by miiThaaii soon, so please subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know, if you have not done so already.
